A.    Majelis Permusyawaratan/Perwakilan Mahasiswa (MPM)
MPM adalah lembaga tertinggi organisasi kemahasiswaan yang berfungsi sebagai forum perwakilan mahasiswa di tingkat universitas, untuk menampung dan menyalurkan aspirasi mahasiswa di lingkungan universitas.
MPM mempunyai tugas pokok antara lain:
Ø  Memberikan pendapat, usul dan saran kepada pimpinan universitas terutama yang berkaitan dengan fungsi dan pencapaian tujuan pendidikan.
Ø Merencanakan dan menetapkan garis-garis besar program kegiatan kemahasiswaan di tingkat universitas.
Ø  Menyelenggarakan pemilihan umum.
Ø  Mengesahkan dan melantik Ketua BEM dan Ketua UKM.
Ø  Mengawasi pelaksanaan program dan ketetapan MPM oleh BEM.
Ø  Meminta pertanggungjawaban Ketua BEM dan Ketua UKM pada akhir masa jabatannya.
Anggota MPM disebut Senator, terdiri dari : anggota yang dipilih melalui pemilihan umum dan satu orang wakil dari tiap Dewan Perwakilan Mahasiswa.

Kepengurusan MPM terdiri atas Badan Pengurus Harian (BPH), yaitu : Ketua Umum, Sekretaris Jenderal dan Bendahara Umum serta Ketua-ketua Komisi. Masa bakti kepengurusan MPM satu tahun dan Ketua Umum tidak dapat dipilih kembali untuk kepengurusan masa bakti berikutnya.
Kepengurusan MPM disahkan oleh Sidang Umum MPM dan dikukuhkan oleh Rektor melalui Surat Keputusan. Pengurus MPM bertanggungjawab kepada Sidang Umum MPM.

B.     Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa ( B E M )
BEM berfungsi sebagai organisasi pelaksana kegiatan pengembangan kemahasiswaan di tingkat universitas, terutama yang berkaitan dengan pengembangan penalaran dan keilmuan, pengembangan sikap kepemimpinan dan keterampilan manajemen, serta pengembangan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Disamping itu, BEM juga merupakan koordinator kegiatan pengembangan kemahasiswaan di lingkungan universitas.
BEM mempunyai tugas pokok antara lain:
Ø  Melaksanakan ketetapan-ketetapan MPM.
Ø  Merencanakan dan melaksanakan kegiatan ekstra-kurikuler pengembangan kemahasiswaan di tingkat universitas sesuai garis-garis besar program yang ditetapkan MPM.
Ø  Mengkoordinasikan kegiatan ekstra-kurikuler pengembangan kemahasiswaan yang dilaksanakan oleh UKM, BEMF dan HMJ.
Dalam melaksanakan tugasnya, BEM melakukan koordinasi dan konsultasi dengan Direktur Kemahasiswaan. Ketua Umum BEM disebut Presiden yang dipilih dan ditetapkan secara langsung oleh mahasiswa melalui Pemilihan Umum yang diselenggarakan oleh MPM.
Kepengurusan BEM disebut Kabinet yang terdiri atas : Ketua Umum, Sekretaris Jenderal, Bendahara Umum dan Ketua-ketua Departemen.
Masa bakti kepengurusan BEM satu tahun dan Ketua Umum tidak dapat dipilih kembali untuk kepengurusan masa bakti berikutnya. Kepengurusan BEM disahkan oleh MPM dengan Surat Keputusan. Pengurus BEM bertanggungjawab kepada MPM.

C.    Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM)
UKM berfungsi sebagai wahana dan sarana pengembangan kegiatan ekstra-kurikuler di tingkat universitas, terutama yang berkaitan dengan pengembangan minat, bakat dan kegemaran mahasiswa, serta kesejahteraan mahasiswa.
UKM mempunyai tugas pokok yaitu merencanakan dan melaksanakan kegiatan ekstra-kurikuler di tingkat universitas dalam bidang tertentu terutama yang berkaitan dengan pengembangan minat, bakat dan kegemaran mahasiswa serta kesejahteraan mahasiswa, baik yang bersifat fisik maupun non fisik, sesuai pilihan yang ditetapkan dan selalu melakukan koordinasi kegiatan dengan BEM.
Dalam melaksanakan tugasnya, UKM melakukan koordinasi dan konsultasi dengan Direktur Kemahasiswaan.
UKM dapat didirikan apabila memiliki sedikitnya 50 (lima puluh) orang anggota, dan dapat disahkan apabila telah melaksanakan kegiatan paling sedikit selama satu semester, sesuai ketentuan yang ditetapkan MPM. Anggota UKM adalah para mahasiswa yang secara resmi mendaftarkan diri kepada pengurus UKM yang bersangkutan.
Ketua UKM dipilih dan ditetapkan oleh Musyawarah anggota UKM yang bersangkutan. Kepengurusan UKM dijabat oleh anggota UKM yang bersangkutan, yang terdiri dari : Ketua, Sekretaris, Bendahara dan seksi-seksi. Kepengurusan UKM disahkan oleh MPM melalui Surat Keputusan.
Masa bakti kepengurusan UKM satu tahun dan Ketua tidak dapat dipilih kembali untuk kepengurusan masa bakti berikutnya.
Pengurus UKM bertanggungjawab kepada Musyawarah Anggota UKM yang bersangkutan dan kepada MPM.

D.    Dewan Perwakilan Mahasiswa ( D P M )
DPM berfungsi sebagai forum perwakilan mahasiswa di tingkat fakultas, untuk menampung dan menyalurkan aspirasi mahasiswa di lingkungan fakultas.
DPM mempunyai tugas pokok antara lain:
Ø  Memberikan pendapat, usul dan saran kepada pimpinan fakultas terutama yang berkaitan dengan fungsi dan pencapaian tujuan pendidikan.
Ø  Merencanakan dan menetapkan garis besar program kegiatan kemahasiswaan di tingkat fakultas sesuai garis besar program yang ditetapkan MPM.
Ø  Menyelenggarakan pemilihan umum.
Ø  Mengesahkan dan melantik Ketua BEMF dan Ketua HMJ.
Ø  Mengawasi pelaksanaan program dan ketetapan DPM oleh BEMF dan HMJ.
Ø  Meminta pertanggungjawaban Ketua BEMF dan Ketua HMJ pada akhir masa jabatannya.
Anggota DPM yang disebut juga Senator, adalah wakil-wakil mahasiswa dari tiap-tiap jurusan di fakultas dan dipilih melalui pemilihan umum.

BEMF berfungsi sebagai organisasi pelaksana kegiatan pengembangan kemahasiswaan di tingkat fakultas, terutama yang berkaitan dengan pengembangan penalaran dan keilmuan, pengembangan sikap kepemimpinan dan keterampilan manajemen, serta pengembangan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dan koordinator kegiatan pengembangan kemahasiswaan di lingkungan fakultas.
BEMF mempunyai tugas pokok antara lain:
Ø  Melaksanakan ketetapan-ketetapan MPM dan DPM.
Ø  Merencanakan dan melaksanakan kegiatan ekstra-kurikuler pengembangan kemahasiswaan di tingkat fakultas sesuai garis-garis besar program yang ditetapkan DPM.
Ø  Mengkoordinasikan kegiatan ekstra-kurikuler pengembangan kemahasiswaan yang dilaksanakan oleh HMJ.
Dalam melaksanakan tugasnya, BEMF melakukan koordinasi dan konsultasi dengan Wakil Dekan. Ketua BEMF ditetapkan dan dipilih secara langsung oleh mahasiswa melalui Pemilihan Umum yang diselenggarakan oleh DPM, dan sesuai dengan ketetapan MPM.
Kepengurusan BEMF terdiri atas : Ketua, Sekretaris Jenderal, Bendahara dan Ketua-ketua Bidang. Masa bakti kepengurusan BEMF satu tahun dan Ketua tidak dapat dipilih kembali untuk kepengurusan masa bakti berikutnya. Kepengurusan BEMF disahkan oleh DPM dengan Surat Keputusan. Pengurus BEMF bertanggungjawab kepada DPM.

F.     Himpunan Mahasiswa Jurusan ( H M J )
HMJ berfungsi sebagai organisasi pelaksana kegiatan pengembangan kemahasiswaan di tingkat jurusan, yang berkaitan dengan pengembangan penalaran dan keilmuan, serta sikap profesi sesuai dengan bidang ilmu dan program studi jurusan.
HMJ mempunyai tugas pokok antara lain:
Ø  Melaksanakan ketetapan-ketetapan MPM dan DPM.
Ø  Merencanakan dan melaksanakan kegiatan ekstra-kurikuler pengembangan kemahasiswaan di tingkat jurusan yang berkaitan dengan pengembangan penalaran dan keilmuan serta sikap profesi sesuai bidang ilmu dan program studi, serta sesuai garis-garis besar program yang ditetapkan DPM.
Ø  Melakukan koordinasi kegiatan dengan BEMF dan BEM.
Dalam melaksanakan tugasnya, HMJ melakukan koordinasi dan konsultasi dengan Ketua Program Studi. Ketua HMJ ditetapkan dan dipilih secara langsung oleh mahasiswa melalui Pemilihan Umum yang diselenggarakan oleh DPM.
Kepengurusan HMJ terdiri atas : Ketua, Sekretaris, Bendahara dan Ketua-ketua Bidang. Masa bakti kepengurusan HMJ satu tahun dan Ketua tidak dapat dipilih kembali untuk kepengurusan masa bakti berikutnya. Kepengurusan HMJ disahkan oleh DPM dengan Surat Keputusan. Pengurus HMJ bertanggungjawab kepada DPM. Organisasi kemahasiswaan terdiri atas organisasi kemahasiswaan tingkat universitas dan organisasi kemahasiswaan tingkat fakultas.
Kemahasiswaan | Bentuk dan Struktur Organisasi Mahasiswa
Menurut Pasal 82 ayat (5) butir b. pada Statuta Universitas Mulawarman menjelaskan bahwa di tingkat fakultas bentuk dan struktur organisasi mahasiswa meliputi Badan Perwakilan Mahasiswa Fakultas (BPMF), Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa Fakultas (BEMF), dan Unit Kegeiatan Mahasiswa Fakultas (UKMF). Kemudian pada butir c. menjelaskan bahwa di tingkat jurusan meliputi Himpunan Mahasiswa Jurusan (HMJ).
a. Badan Perwakilan Mahasiswa (BPM) Fakultas
            Tugas pokok BPM Fakultas adalah menetapkan Garis-garis Besar program, menilai program dan melaksanakan program, memberikan pendapat dan pelaksanaan BEM Fakultas serta memberikan pendapat, usul dan saran kepada pimpinan fakultas.
         Fungsi BPM Fakultas adalah sebagai perwakilan mahasiswa untuk menampung dan menyalurkan aspirasi mahasiswa dilingkungan fakultas. Kepengurusan BPM Fakultas terdiri dari ketua, sekretaris, bendahara dan anggota pengurus lainnya yang terbagi dalam komisi-komisi dan masa kerja kepengurusan satu tahun. Dalam melaksanakan tugas pokok dan fungsinya DPM fakultas bertanggung jawab kepada Dekan melalui PD III.
b. Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) Fakultas
Tugas pokok BEM Fakultas adalah mewakkili mahasiswa, mengkoordinasikan kegiatan organisasi kemahasiswaan dalam bidang ekstra kurikuler dia tingkat fakultas dan memberikan pendapat, usul dan saran kepada pimpinan fakultas terutama yang berkaitan dengan peran, fungsi dan pencapaian tujuan pendidikan nasional.
            BEM Fakultas berfungsi sebagai forum :
  1. Perwakilan mahasiswa di tingkat fakultas untuk menampung dan menyalurkan aspirasi mahasiswa dilingkungan fakultas.
  2. Perencanaan dan penetapan garis-garis besar program kegiatan mahasiswa ditingkat fakultas.
  3. Komunikasi mahasiswa antar organisasi kemahasiswaan fakultas dan unit kegiatan kegiatan organisasi di lingkungan fakultas.
  4. Koordinasi kegiatan-kegiatan ekstra kurikuler ditingkat fakultas.
     5.  Pengembangan keterampilan manajemen mahasiswa di tingakt fakultas.
          Kepengurusan BEM fakultas terdiri dari Ketua, Sekretaris dam anggota pengurus lainnya yang terpilih melalui tata tertib yang berlaku. Masa kepengurusan BEM fakultas satu tahun. Dalam melaksanakan tugas pokok dan fungsinya BEM fakultas bertanggung jawab kepada Dekan melalui PD III.
c. Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) Fakultas
Unit kegiatan Mahasiswa Fakultas mempunyai tugas pokok merencanakan dan melaksanakan kegiatan ekstra kurikuler  ditingkat fakultas dalam bidang tertentu sesuai dengan tugas dan tanggung jawabnya.
Fungsi UKM Fakultas sebagasi wahana untuk merencanakan, melaksanakan dan mengembangkan kegiatan ekstra kurikuler ditingkat  fakultas yang bersifat minat, bakat dam kesejahteraan mahasiswa serta pengambdian pada masyarakat. Kepengurusan UKM Fakultas terdiri dari Ketua, sekretaris, bendahara dan anggota pengurus lainnya. Masa kepengurusan UKM fakultas satu tahun. Dalam melaksanakan tugas pokok dan fungsinya UKM fakultas bertanggung jawab kepada Dekan melalui PD III.
d. Himpunan Mahasiswa Jurusan (HMJ)
            HMJ Mempunyai tugas pokok menyelenggarakan ekstra kurikuler yang bersifat penalaran dan keilmuan yang sesuai dengan program jurusan.
            Fungsi HMJ sebagai wahana pelaksanaan ekstra kurikuler yang bersifat penalaran dan keilmuan yang sesuai dengan program jurusan yang bersangkutan. Kepengurusan HMJ terdiri dari Ketua, sekretaris, bendahara dan anggota pengurus lainnya. Masa kepengurusan HMJ satu tahun. Dalam melaksanakan tugas pokok dan fungsinya HMJ bertanggung jawab kepada ketua jurusan yang bersangkutan.
